Glaxo Announces Positive Results on Shingles Nerve Pain Drug

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and XenoPort (XNPT) said today that results from a Phase II clinical trial of a drug to treat nerve pain associated with post-herpetic neuralgia met its primary endpoint. The adult patients, who had had inadequate response to doses of 1800 milligrams of gabapentin, demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in pain on a 3600 milligram per day dose of the Glaxo drug, as compared to 1200 per day.
