Shanghai hostage taker shot dead

Chinese police have killed a man who took a toddler hostage inside a fast food restaurant. The toddler was taken by an unidentified middle aged man at a Shanghai outlet of Kentucky Fried Chicken in the northwest of the Chinese city. He seized the child just after 3pm local time when her mother stepped away to buy food. Hundred of people who had gathered around the cordoned-off restaurant watched the incident unfolded.
