FairPoint Communications Files Chapter 11

FairPoint Communications has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The company, which operates phone services in 18 states, said it has made a deal with its lenders to restructure debt, such that its total debt burden will be reduced from $2.7 billion to $1 billion.
