Alcohol banned in Aborigine areas

The Australian government imposes a six-month ban on alcohol and pornography in Aboriginal townships. The measures were introduced in response to a damning report published last week which found child sexual abuse was widespread in Australia's Aboriginal communities. The government-sanctioned study said Aboriginal society was being destroyed by alcohol, which represented the gravest threat to indigenous children living in the outback.
