Sarkozy: Darfur "silence kills"
June 25, 2007
French President Nicolas Sarkozy calls on the world to be firm with Sudan if it doesn't act to stop the violence in Darfur. Sarkozy issued the appeal as he opened a Paris conference attended by the U.S., China and 15 other nations aimed at renewing efforts to end atrocities in Sudan's Darfur region. His call on major powers to get tough with Khartoum will have to be relayed to the Sudanese government: it wasn't invited to the event.
