Nepal Maoists disarm
January 19, 2007
Nepal's former Maoist rebels hand over their arms and dissolve the parallel government and courts in areas under their control. Earlier this week, 83 nominees of the former guerrillas took their seats in the interim legislature following a deal struck with the government in November. Joint local governments are to be set up with the consensus of the government, but Maoists remain cautious.
