governor-elect susana martinez says she wants to cut public school budgets without any cuts in classroom spending... and now she's explaining how she plans to do that. martinez says the cuts must come in administrative spending. but with a-p-s needing to cut 64-million dollars... and with an administrative budget of just 28 million dollars. officials say the numbers don't add up. " we've been cutting cutting cutting - in fact they call it shaving - and i gotta tell you public education is bald - there is no more room to shave any money from the bureaucracy or anything else in public education." " what we're committed to doing is making sure we're not cutting spending in the classroom - it's important to keep the money in the classroom - 61 cents of every dollar goes to the classroom." the a-p-s budget numbers assume education would be cut at the same rate as all other state agencies in an across the board cut. but martinez has said repeatedly that her administration will make cuts on a case-by-case basis
