with tensions between north and south korea at an all time high... there's new advice on what you need to do to survive a nuclear blast. our kayla anderson talked with the department of homeland security today. she's here now with what you need to know. there's new science that says you stand a better chance of minute thumbnail 06:14 pm surviving a nuclear attack if you immediately hide from the radiation that follows... a simple move that could save hundreds of thousands of lives. imagine the new mexico skyline... peaceful one moment... then-- a white flash ... followed by a radioactive mushroom cloud. it may seem natural to run. but there's new science that says running isn't what you should do. "if you can't get out of the way, then please shelter in place and it would increase survivability drastically." the obama administration is slowly spreading the word on how to survive a nuclear blast. bottom line: you need to fight the impulse to run. "the new science shows that what you want to do is hide immediately from the nuclear blast and the radioactive particles that follow. even getting in your car could reduce casualties by as much as 50%." but the obama admistration is hesitant to spread the word too quickly-- concerned about raising alarm among the public. so officials have started a slow- minute thumbnail 06:15 pm moving campaign...
