an emotional homecoming this christmas -- as a new mexico airman meets his twin baby girls for the first time. we were there tonight as his family waited anxiously for him at albuquerque sunport. liz lastra is live at the sunport where she got to witness the touching reunion. liz? thanks antoinette ...it was a christmas present worth waiting for tonighwhen john de la cruz walked through the gates at albuquerque sunport to see his wife and three kids. it was also the first time dela cruz had ever seen his twin daughters in person. a family waits patiently for united flight 6416 to land. "my husband's coming home from korea, he's been there for a year...he's coming home" john dela cruz is in the air force and hasn't seen his wife sabrina for a while. for his twin daughters -- it will be the first time they meet their dad. "he's coming home to his family...his kids...his brand new babies" originally scheduled to come home on january 1st -- their 6 year old son joaquin doesn't even know he's about to see his dad. "he thinks that he's coming home on new year's" it's an exciting moment for joaquin once his dad walks through the gates. "i wasn't expecting all of this but it's nice to be back home again" as he holds both of his girls for the first time john says he couldn't be happier. "this is the best christmas ever" learning he would come home a week earlier than he thought was a welcome surprise. "i'm glad to be home and i'm glad to be with my wife and with my family" as for joaquin... he already has the rest of their night planned out... "we will open presents and we will go make hot cocoa" the family says he is now back in albuquerque for a while and will be stationed at kirtland air force base
