Man had son to blow into interlock ignition to start car

information tonight about a man who admitted to having his son blow into his ignition interlock so he could drive. the man has at least 3 dwi convictions. and in court today it was disclosed he was employed by the city of albuquerque. joe vigil is live in the newsroom with the details. in court attorneys indicated diego roybal was employed for the city of albuquerque for two years doing park maintenance. this is him in court today. b tonight it's unclear whether he's a city employee. a city spokesperson told us roybal is not listed in a city directory of employees and wouldn't know more until tomorrow. according to court documents police pulled him over for speeding at rio grand and candelaria-- but smelled alcohol. roybal admitted to drinking four beers. an officer noticed his son was holding his interlock device and wonder how he started his minute thumbnail 10:01 pm car because he was drinking. that's when roybal said he had his son blow into his interlock. because of that prosecutors asked for a higher bond. this is how the judge responded. "the allegations on the complaint are pretty troubling mr. roybal. i'm going to agree with the recommendation and set bond in the amount of 25 thousand cash only." prosecutors say roybal has 13 misdemeanor arrest.. 5 arrests for dwi and four dwi convictions. we found just three of them online. during the traffic stop roybal was below the legal limit and not charged with dwi. but does face felony child abuse charges which carry a maximum 3 year prison term. live in the newsroom joe vigil kob eyewitness news 4.
