we're getting a closer look at problems created by a shortage of medical marijuana in new mexico. we got an email from a viewer criticizing one producer, accusing them of distributing their limited supply like a drug dealer. our kayla anderson spoke with the producer to learn more about their situation... kayla? new mexicann natural medicine says demand is so high, they had to create a new structure for their ordering system. but it's not sitting well with some patients. this person writes in an email to kob eyewitness news 4 ... "this seems more like drug dealing rather than a fair distribution of medicine." talked with the owner of new mexicann natural minute thumbnail 05:08 pm medicine. he admits that his new ordering system isn't fair... but says it's absolutely necessary. the new mexicann opens for orders every other week at noon... and they're sold out within just a couple minutes. len goodman, the owner, says such high demand means some of their longest standing patients are getting squeezed out. so, now those long-standing patients are allowed to place their orders ahead of time. "one way or another, it's not fair. but we decided that about 5% of our patients had to be able to get advanced orders because they were our longest end patients who we have relationships with and they're the most dependent on us."
