we continue to monitor developments tonight in the death of an 8- year-old albuquerque boy. police are investigating the death... after the boy's parents say they found him unresponsive in his bed early this morning. kayla anderson is live in the newsroom with the latest details. right now we're waiting on the office of the medical investigator to determine a cause of death. the boy's parents found him thisorning around 7 at the family home in northwest albuquerque, near eagle ranch and irving. paramedics tried for at least 20 minutes to resuscitate him. he was then transported to the hospital, where he passed away. at that point, the apd crimes against children unit was called in to investigate. "we do not know at this time if it was an accident. it didn't appear anything obvious, meaning that he wasn't shot or stabbed or anything of that nature." i'm told the boy's parents are being very cooperative and have not been labeled as suspects. we've learned the boy had a 10 and 5 year-old sibling. apd says it doesn't appear cyfd has ever been called to the family home. police say omi may have a cause of death as early as tomorrow morning.
