now to our coverage of the 2011 legislative session. a bill introduced today- could lead to more dna testing in felony arrests. it's part of a push to beef up katie's law-- which requires some convicted felons to have their dna run through a national database. gadi schwartz is live in santa fe with the story. it's been one of governor susana martinez's agenda items- and s one area were she seems to be reaching across the aisle. today democrat- representative al park introduced the a bill to beef up katie's law so officers could take dna samples as soon as someone is arrested for a violent felony.. right now its only for those arrested for certain felonies. the law is named after new mexico state university student katie minute thumbnail 05:07 pm sepich. some say her killer could have been caught earlier if police would have been able to test his dna in an un- related arrest.
