questioning the new secretary of education's decision to hire eight out-of state- consultant this after governor martinez asked school districts to cut wasteful spending. gadi schwartz asked the secrary of education to explain the hirings. he's live in santa fe with what she had to say. the secretary of education- says governor martinez has told her to cut about 20 percent of her budget. she says paying the 8 different consultants about 151- thousand dollars is helping her scale back on costs, while improving new mexico schools. but the president of the teachers union doesn't buy it. out walks - new mexcio's secretary of education along with consultant minute thumbnail 06:04 pm kristy campbell from florida - who will be paid $34,000 for 3 months of communication, outreach and policy advice. i was really disappointed how this was perceived campbell is one of eight consultants that will collectively be paid about 151,000 dollars for working on plans for virtual schools and changing how new mexcio collects education data from the classroom.
