a house committee voted to table a bill that would require proof of citizenship in order to get a new mexico driver's license.... but governor susana martinez is still trying to fullfill one of her campaign promises. cristina rodda is live in the newsroom with what's next... cristina now that the bill to repeal driver's license for illegal immigrantsas been tabled in the ste legislature-- governor susana martin is calling for a up or down vote. she wants stata legislators to vote on the floor instead of through committee. we were there last friday as the governor held a news conference hoping to encourage new mexicans to push for the law that would require proof of citizenship to get a license. in a party line vote today the issue was tabled by the house consumer and public affairs committee. republicans in support of the bill say today's vote goes against what 70-percent of people in the state want. but at least on democrat on the committee that tabled the bill says this is a highly politically and emotionaly charged issue that requires more thoughtful debate. there is much more ahead as state lawmakers grapple with the bill to repeal driver's licenses-- be sure to watch kob eyewitness news four for complete covereage of every development
