APD searches for copper thieves in downtown building

police have surrounded the anasazi building on 6th and central. eddie garcia is live to tell us what they're looking for. eddie? police are inside the building right now with k-9 units looking for suspected copper thieves - so far they've already arrested one person but they believe there are multiple others inside. officers tell us this afternoon thieves broke in and stole copper and other valuable items from the unfinished building on 6th and central. this originated from a caller that reportedly saw theives stealing the metal. k-o-b was first to report earlier this week that the anasazi has become a magnet for copper thieves. police say they arrested two people a couple of nights ago. the anasazi project has been stalled for more than two years. and as you can imagine this is also causing a traffic headache for people on 6th police recommend you avoid the area for the time being.
