Update: Silver City grass fire evacuates up to 200 homes

follow breaking news out of southern new mexico -- where a grass fire has burned or damaged five homes - and 500 acres south of silver city. this is video just in -- you can see --- at last check -- evacuations have been ordered near mckinny and quail ridge roads- where several structures are threatened. the south end of rosedale road is also being evacuated. right now we have dan ware from state forestry on the phone .... dan since we last minute thumbnail 06:00 pm spoke about an hour ago ... have you learned of any progress ma fighting this fire? dan do we know any more about this fire started? where and when? we've been reporting this is a grass fire ... what exactly is it burning? what type of land? we've been busy minute thumbnail 06:01 pm working on getting information on this fire since it broke up this minute thumbnail 06:02 pm afternoon.
