new at noon... guilty. that's the verdict handed down by a judge to personal injury attorney ron bell in his d-w-i trial. sharon erickson was in the courtroom and is live downtown with more on the judges ruling. sharon, ? it took seven witnesses and three days of testimony- almost unheard of in metro court-- for the judge to find ron bell guilty on all three counts. it was a stunning verdict for many in the courtroom. the judge said the case wasn't minute thumbnail 12:04 pm about adderall or a-d-h-d... and declared ron bell guilty of "d-w-i first offense"... "speeding" ... and "failure to maintain a lane." ron bell was pulled over last june-- when deputies say his black mercedes weaved and crossed a white traffic line. bell testified taking the a-d-h-d drug adderall 24 hours before he was pulled over... but prosecuters say his blood tested positive for enough amphetamine to impair his driving. bell must pay small fines for the lesser two offenses... and will be on probation ... where he'll have to finish the court's "d-w-i first offender's program." bell's attorney says the case isn't over yet. "mr. ron bell has spent his whole life suing drunk drivers and promoting traffic safety throughout his career. and we will respond to this with an appeal, eventually we believe we'll be successful as well."
