Leo Co. declares state of emergency

in southeastern new mexico... grass fires have lea county officials declaring a state of emergency. more than 65- thousand acres have burned there over the past two weeks. the emergency declaration states that flames have burned state and private land, homes, and livestock. the declaration allows outside resources to help firefighting efforts. several fire trucks in the area are on standby.
