A new urgent care clinic offering a lower cost alternative to an emergency room visit opened its doors this week in Cortez, Colorado. The Southwest Memorial Hospital is the first of its kind in Cortez. Medical director for the clinic, Dr. April Randle, said the city has a limited number of primary care doctors and they opened to fill a need in the community. "We provide services for people with illnesses that they could see their primary care doctor for but unfortunately they don't have a primary care doctor or their primary care doctor is busy that day," she said. Southwest Memorial accepts most major insurance plans and takes walk-ins only. They are open Monday through Saturday from 12 to 8 p.m.
