UNM's Japanese students organize community fiundraisers

s. cristina rodda is live in the newsroom with more details on that part of the story. cristina. the unm students eddie spoke to are turning to the university and area restaurants to raise the money to send to japan. rio watanabe says the will be putting up donation boxes at area restaurants. the are hoping whatever money they can bring in will be of some help to the people of japan. they are thinking of the major reconstruction and rescue efforts in the weeks to come. "a lot of us have been here for years and been away from our homeland and since we are not really around the home country we thought this would be a good opportunity to help the. . the group is also planning a minute thumbnail 10:05 pm bake sale and a flea market sale at unm this month. they are still in the process of figuring out how to get the money they collect in the hands of those who need it most in japan. kokoro on menaul near san pedro and mirai express on harvard near central are two of the restaurants where donations can be made starting this week.
