KOB Eyewitness News 4 has uncovered that guns stolen in a string of burglaries from an arms dealer nearly three years ago are now resurfacing, this time in the hands of criminals. While reading court documents, we discovered a stolen gun was recovered in an accidental shooting. KOB's subsequent investigation has sparked new leads for the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office. Louie Rivera, 36, has been charged with possession of a stolen firearm. The weapon was tracked to a major gun theft from a home in northwest Albuquerque in 2008. The home involved belonged to an arms dealer who had passed away, leaving his home vacant. As of today, it's still boarded up. The home was burglarized several times throughout 2008. In all, 85 guns were stolen, as well as knives, an Indian tomahawk and grenades. But the guns have slowly been re-surfacing. The first gun was found at a gun show in 2008. Then, a second was found at a pawn shop in 2009. Finally, a third was found in Louie Rivera's possession. "We're concerned in the community when we lose this volume, these types of weapons," said BCSO Captain Gregg Marcantel. Deputies are worried about the guns being in the hands of criminals and possibly making their way south. "The relationship that we have in terms of the geography of the Republic of Mexico, and how it dovetails into the drug industry is also a concern for us," the captain added. Two people have been indicted for stealing the weapons. Brandon Quintana is now on probation as he awaits trial, but deputies need help finding the second suspect, Jesse Glasscock. If you know of his whereabouts, call the BCSO Fugitive Tip Line at (505) 263-4919.
