police are waiting on medical investigators to determine how exactly a 38 year- old man died after police used a taser on him. eddie garcia is here to show us what led up to the minute thumbnail 10:01 pm deadly confrontation today. eddie? police say that 38 year old jerry perea tried to attack officers with a crucifix after they responded to a domestic violence call in northwest albuquerque. it was then when they decided to subdue him with the tazer gun. police were called to perea household at around 9-30 this morning police say perea was at the home being disruptive and throwing things. when officers arrived investigators say he took off on his bicycle and was found less than a mile away. that's when police claim he became violent and began hitting one of the officers on the head with a crucifix. an officer then drew his tazer and stunned perea. police say after that, he was cognitive - even apologizing to them. medics were called to examine the officers-- and that's when perea had some sort of medical episode on the sidewalk. "we thought they were just trying to handcuff him.
