Visa, MasterCard Rise; Feds to Miss Deadline for Debit-Card
March 30, 2011
Visa (V) and MasterCard (MA) are up after Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said the central bank won't meet an April 21 deadline to come up with a final rule on debit-card transaction fees, Bloomberg reports. The cap, mandated by the Dodd-Frank law that overhauled the financial industry last year, must be in place by July 21, the story said. V was last up 4.02% and MA up 1.84%.
