democratic minute thumbnail 06:09 pm congressman martin heinrich says he is in. he announced today he's running for u-s senator jeff bingaman's seat. the five term democrat is retiring. we caught up with representative heinrich today at the 18th annual cesar chavez celebration in albuquerque. congressman heinrich told us he made the decision about a week ago. he says he wants to fight for people who don't pay too much attention to politics. "all i can say it look at my record. we're going to keep fighting for average hard working new mexicans. and i think at the end of the day more than anything else that's what people want in a representative in washington is somebody who's going to put their interests first." representative heinrich says he's proven that he can work across the aisle with colleagues in washington... and plans to travel to all corners of new mexico to talk with people during his campaign
