Woman brutally beaten by boyfriend waits for justice

new at 6-- we're getting answers about why it took police so long to issue an arrest warrant for a man accused of brutally beating his girlfriend. today liz lastra went to gallup to hear the woman's story...as her now ex-boyfriend gets ready to head to court tomorrow. and we want to warn you - some of the images in this story are graphic. the tears flow freely as 25- year--old krystal yazzie remembers the night of january 15th. "i was beaten, battered i accepted i was going to die. i didn't think i was going to see my children again" pictures of her injuries show bruises - a broken nose and split lip. "i had 6 staples in the back of my head ...he punched me with all of his might" but her uphill battle didn't end there. minute thumbnail 06:16 pm "i was just waiting for them to issue the warrant" it took 64 days for the gallup police department to issue an arrest warrant for her then boyfriend-- 30-year-old frederick hudson. i spoke th the chief of police over the phone and he says they made a mistake with the first police report and a second one had to be filed--which caused the delay. "if this is happening to me how many woman go through this with the court system and don't pursue it " the chief of police says they are internally going over what went wrong in their process.
