In Albuquerque, proposed budget cuts and the threat of a government shutdown is hitting close to home. On Wednesday, workers at the social security office, in downtown, rallied to get their message heard. Social security office workers Larry Lopez said, "its everybody and every american that's going to be impacted." House republicans have proposed a 1.7 billion dollar reduction in social security administration funding for the remainder of this budget year. The proposed cuts not sitting well with Albuquerque social security office workers. And with a anticipated government shutdown, up to 600 social security workers in Albuquerque could be impacted. Local union Vice President of the American Federation of Government Employees, Edward McHenry said, " I've been through this once and it looks like Im going to go through it again along with my co-workers."
