school districts will have to cut anywhere from hundreds of thousands -- to millions more than they budgeted for. today cristina rodda talked to two superintendents about the additional cuts ... and who they're blaming. cristina -- today superintendents found out how much more money must be cut from district budgets. these are state cuts superintendents didn't know they would have to make until recently. "i can't live off of rhetoric,i have to be the person who tells our employees were going to cut their jobs or we're going to increase class sizes." as the largest school district in the state-- aps will take a ten million dollar hit... that's on top of the 24 million that was already cut. "somebody missed the boat someplace." he's placing blame on the public education department and the state. "it's about the lack of attention the legislature actually gave to that growth which they typically get, that's what makes this so difficult." public education secretary designant hanna skandera-- says the reason school districts now have to cut more money is because an increase in the number of children needing special education and more teachers receiving extra training. "is there someone to blame absolutely not this is data, data turned on a regular basis same on the same time frame as last year. the same process to follow." artesia superintendent mike phipps says whatever the reason -- this is state education funding at its worst-- he'll have to cut an extra 300-thousand dollars.
