On Monday, Albuquerque's mayor Richard Berry will be meeting with the FDIC about the what's going to happen with the dilapidated Anasazi building downtown. The FDIC holds the note and mortgage on the building. The mayor will not be giving the FDIC a deadline in terms of finishing construction on the building, but he says he will be firm with them, letting them know the city has waited long enough. The mayor's meeting is scheduled for Monday afternoon at city hall. On Tuesday, some local developers who are interested in finishing the building will be meeting with the FDIC. The two meetings were prompted after the mayor sent the FDIC a letter recently which declared the city was ready to take action on the property. Financial troubles and crime has plagued the unfinished Anasazi for the last three years.
