DWI trial underway for man accused in teens' deaths

the lone teenage survivor in a deadly drunk driving crash in santa fe- took the stand this minute thumbnail 12:02 pm morning- in the scott owens trial. santa fe bureau chief gadi schwartz is covering the trial- he's live outside the courthouse with an update on the start of the trial. prosecutors' opening agreements were over in less than 10 minutes- they were simple- saying scott owens caused this crash and they are going to prove it. but the defense spent quite a bit more time during his arguments playing bits and pieces of a 9-11 tape and telling jurors scott owens may have been drunk- but this accident was not caused by him. and telling the jury that right after the crash one teen that called 911 was blaming another teen for what happened. this morning we have been hearing from friends of the 4 teens who were killed in that crash on old pecos trail as they describe the scene after the crash.
