only eyewitness news four was there-- as search and rescue teams from around the state practiced their skills along the bosque. it's practice that could mean the difference between life and death in swift water rescues. kayla anderson is live in the bosque near atrisco- with an exclusive look. kayla? search and rescue teams are not utilized very often. but when they are-- it's a matter of saving a life-- and that takes practice. e of the most important parts of search and rescue is simple observance. these people practiced navigating the banks of the river ... which can be very tricky. "we have very rough brush, very sharp needles, the ground is slipper and wet. there's lots of animals, trash." this is more exclusive video-- of search and rescue k9 training. these dogs are trained to find the scent of bodies and survivors. their owners use toys as rewards when the dogs find the scent. next up-- honing a tricky technique-- with throwing ropes with sand bags into the water.... which is a very vast expanse with a very little target.
