UNM names lady Lobos assistant as new head coach

unm has named a new women's head basketball coach. and j-p -- the department didn't have to look very far to find a replacement ... right? unm vice president for athletics paul krebs admitted assistant yvonne sanchez was an underdog going into the hiring process.. but he added the right person for the job was right in his own backyard the whole time... unm named associate head coach yvonne sanchez the fifth head coach in the history of the women's basketball program.. she spent 11 years alongside don flanagan who reitred after 16 seasons.. sanchez says she's a little different than flanagan and wants to create her own style.. she says the work she put in made her the best person for the job.. coming up tonight at six we'll hear from the players and what the players think about the hire
