Palestinian talks - no breakthrough
January 22, 2007
Sunday's meeting between Hamas' exiled political chief and the Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas failed to end the deadlock that's convulsed Palestinian politics since Hamas swept to power a year ago. Following more than three hours of talks in the Syrian capital, both sides said talks would continue and halting bloodshed between Palestinians was their top priority. Dozens of Palestinians have been killed in an increasingly violent power struggle between Hamas and Abbas' Fatah faction.
