a dangerous joyride in an ambulance ends with a naked man being taken down by police. the suspect: a patient on the way to the hospital. cristina rodda is here now to tell us how that patient ended up in the driver's seat, cristina? police say 28 year old christopher halverson is at unm hospital but once he gets out he'll be heading straight to jail-- and it all began with a joyride in an ambulance. police say this is the work of christopher halverson-- at around two this morning he was put into the back of this ambulance while in a drug induced craze near 4th and candelaria. police say he forced two emt's out of the back of the ambulance than crawled through here. " it's still big enough for somebody to crawl through ." police say he made it to the driver's seat-- and the ambulance company says halverson pushed the driver out. he sped off and ended up crashing here and through some barricades at 4th and san clemente. "he was seen running from the ambulance this time though completely unclothed." police say they found halverson's clothes in the ambulance. they caught up to him a few hours later. police were first called out to arrest halverson after getting reports of a disturbance. it's not our place to gibe them that command, they have their own policies what they decided to do once he is in their care is up to them." a spokesperson for albuquerque ambulance says the emt's chose not to restrain halverson because he was cooperative and calm. police say in a drug induced craze that can change very quickly. it doesn't happen very often i can't remember the last time i remember an ambulance being car jacked or being stolen. the emt's were not hurt. police say halverson could face felony charges including assault on healthcare worker and car jacking. police add that halverson has no significant criminal record.
