america ---at this year's gathering of nations. eddie garcia was there and brings us the sights and sounds. eddie. this years winner is from alaska. she took the title of miss indian world in front of a packed house at the pit arena to much cheer and fanfare. a series of high energy smoke dances warmed up the crowd at the pit arena this evening, harolding the arrival of a new miss indian world. thousand's, thousands of dancers from everywhere. contestants all the way from alaska, to canada - north carolina to right here in new mexico graced the stage all competing for the same prize. the excitement in beyond belief. only one could be crowned queen -- and this year it was marjorie tah-bone from nome, alaska. at a news conference - nothing but gratitude from the runners up. i'm very, very humbled at the support and just very grateful. beyond having just one winner -- the contenstants say it's all about maintaining culture that makes all the difference in facing competition. when we first got here we were all kind of intimidated by each other and now that we know each other's goals and talents we all became like family we all just like sisters now. a sense of unity among many -- in this gathering of nations. even though, i didn't win or some of these other girls didn't win - to me we're all winners. the new miss indian world will visit different tribes throughout the world promoting the preservation of culture. the new miss indian world will visit different tribes throughout the world promoting the preservation of culture. back to you.
