the new mexico state women's basketball team didn't have to go far to find another recruit.. just down the street.. mayfield's elena holguin signed a national letter of intent to play for the aggies.. the 5-8 guard averaged over 26 points a game in the state tournament this past march.. leading mayfield to the state title.. manzano's eric bo-ma is staying in state to play college basketball as well.. bo-ma will sign a letter of intent this week to play at northern new mexico college.. an n-a-i-a school in espanola.. bo-ma hit a game winning shot against las cruces in the state tournament.. he's at the bottom of that dog minute thumbnail 10:36 pm pile.. he averaged about ten points a game last season.. hope christian senior aasha marler was one of the top track and field stars in the state this season.. today she signed her national letter of intent to compete at unm.. last week marler won the 100 and 200 at state and set a record in the triple jump.. she told us today she's always wanted to be a lobo and she's proud to be another local athlete wearing the cherry and silver .. today at twin warriors it was local qualifying for the u-s open... a couple golfers with unm ties are moving onto sectionals.. unm's john catlin earned one of the two spots up for grabs by firing a 68... former lobo maddy muthiya actually played in the u-s open one year through this local qualifier.. maddy and luke tanner both shot 71's and went to a playoff.. maddy earned the second open spot with a birdie on the first minute thumbnail 10:37 pm playoff hole.. so catlin and muthiya will go to sectionals ..
