Dogs die after being left in hot Animal Welfare truck

we've learned two dogs died after an animal welfare officer left them in a truck, with no air conditioning on. minute thumbnail 06:06 pm it happened yesterday after the officer picked up one of the dogs, deemed an aggressive pitbull, near carlisle and montgomery. the other dog was already in the truck. it's not clear if the heat or lack of a-c actually killed the dogs. the city is now investigating. it's important that we don't at this point because it's so early in the investigation, that we don't point fingers yet, we don't know all the facts that happened the owner of one of the dogs is looking at filing a lawsuit against the city. the animal welfare officer is still on the job, but is not handling animals until the city's investigation is finished.
