the track fire north of raton is now 20 percent contained tonight. it's burned 25-thousand six- hundred acres... a growth of about a thousand acres from yesterday. crews battling the track fire are also dealing with very windy, and dry conditions. heather mills continues our team coverage of the fires burning in new mexico. she's live in raton with a look at how the weather is impacting firefighting efforts there. while the wind picked up out here, it hasn't been strong enough to ground air crews from fighting this fire. and that's good news for people who remain under evacuation orders. pkg 23:56:19 - 23:56:23 "it feel great, i'm happy about it, sure." john donner.. and hundreds others were evacuated from their homes suny night. donner found out at a meeting today that he could return home. this afternoon, susan wortman was still waiting for word on when she can return home. i've been evacuated since sunday. i was told to get out of sugarite. i went to the north part of town then i was evacauted from there sunday night. now i'm in a motel. it's been very hard and we're tired." fire officials are hoping to continue to hold the fire lines -- even with the gusty wind.. "all we do is come to the meetings, listen the radio, and pray that the fire doesn't hit our place and that the winds cooperate." fire officials are calling today and tomorrow critical days for the fire because conditions of the hot, dry and windy conditions. live in raton, heather mills kob eye witness news four.
