they let her go. the woman accused of killing two people in a drunk driving crash was in court this week, but she wasn't arrested. stephanie mendez had a warrant issued after we called the san juan county d-a. we learned she violated her conditions of release when she came to albuquerque. mendez was involved in a car accident that killed two people on i-25 near montgomery in march. the san juan county d-a says the judge let her go this week because no other charges have been filed against her. "in our case she's only facing misdemeanor domestic violence charges and to my knowledge as of wednesday...vehicular homicide charges had not been filed so the court really only could consider that she was out of the county which is what we know. we don't have evidence that we can present to court that she was in fact intoxicated" the d-a in albuquerque tells us they are giving police more time before they file any charges against mendez. for now.... mendez has been ordered to wear an alcohol monitoring bracelet and a gps bracelet so authorities know where she is.
