Las Conchas fire 27% contained; Land owners tour damage

fire crews continue to gain minute thumbnail 06:31 am ground on the las conchas fire--- burning near los alamos. thanks to the more than 2- thousand people fighting the fire... the 123-thsouand acre blaze is now 27 percent contained. now, after days of unanswered questions ... today, those who lost their homes to fire in cochiti mesa will get an up-close look at what's left. sharon erickson is live on the firwatch ... near cochiti mesa with info on what's happening today. sharon? antoette... it's been more than a week since people lost their homes to the las conchas fire here in cochiti mesa. later this morning, they'll get a chance to see what's left of their homes as they decide what's next... and if they should rebuild. the sandoval county fire department will escort land owners to their property today. the area is still considered hazardous ... so residents will be driven to their homes in government vehicles. about 15 minute thumbnail 06:32 am homes were lost when the las conchas fire ripped through cochiti mesa june 26... before heading north to los lunas. residents say fire officials haven't told them much about the condition of their property... so many are anxious to see the damage first hand-- as they decide what to do next. the fire department will start their tours of the area at ten o'clock today. they're asking property owners to meet at the "banco bonito staging area" on highway 4. we'll be there and bring you the stories from inside the fire lines coming up tonight at 5. live in cochiti mesa. sharon erickson. kob eyewitness news 4.
