Tourism department launches Billy The Kid themed contest
July 15, 2011
governor martinez launches the state's new tourism campaign. it's called "catch the kid" - as in billy - stuart dyson is here to tell us about it. when bill richardson was governor he considered pardoning the kid - susana martinez says no way - in fact she's posted a reward for the capture of the long-dead outlaw. the governor s reward is ten thousand bucks for whoever finds the kid's hideout and captures him - a neat trick since pat garrett shot him to death exactly 130 years ago. " some people have considered pardoning billy the kid - but as governor and as a previous prosecutor - career prosecutor for 25 years - i'm here to say that we're not letting him off the hook!" you got it figured out - it's a game right? - you go to catch the kid dot com to learn how to play it - basically you travel to key locations around the state and pick up clues and you get coupons and gift certificates and stuff. " what you need to do is go to catch the kid dot com and sign up your posse - your posse can be a posse of one - or it can be an entire family or a group of friends - this is the crew that you will go around the state looking for the clues and ways to capture the kid." and you stay in motels and eat in restaurants and spend money and it's all good for the economy - right? - you gotta wonder if the kid would approve of all this good clean fun and what's he gonna do about it if he doesn't like it? - sue em for invasion of privacy or something? the guy's dead for crying out loud!
