The bulls are off in Pamplona

A delayed start and a goring marked the first of eight San Fermin bull runs in the northern Spanish town of Pamplona. Although people from Pamplona pride themselves on an annual festival that runs like clockwork, high attendance this year delayed the start of the first run by six minutes. By the usual start time of 0600 GMT, clean-up crews were still working through the mess left after a night of non-stop partying by thousands of revellers. Those who run after Pamplona's famous bulls usually spend the night before dulling their senses with alcohol.
