Albuquerque police are still on the hunt for those responsible for a deadly shooting Sunday afternoon in broad daylight near Coal Avenue and Broadway Boulevard SE. Through a translator, a woman who did not want to be identified told KOB Eyewitness News 4 she saw the shooting from her window at about 3:30 p.m. "I believe that he killed him right away. That it sounded like a machine gun or like something that was rapid," she said. The woman describes the brutality of the attack. "He walked over to where the victim was lying and he continued to shoot." She says she saw no other witnesses in the area when the suspect sped away. Across the street at an activity center a young man, who didn't want to be identified, was at a baby shower. Everyone there heard the shooting. "It was really loud and we thought it was fireworks. My mom's friend came outside and she started yelling," he said. Nothing could prepare them for what they saw. "She came in and she said that she saw somebody on the floor with smoke coming out of his body and he had a hole right [in his head]," he said. Police report that witnesses saw four people jump out of a vehicle with at least one opening fire. The victim has been identified only as a man in his 30's. "It didn't appear that the victim had anything to defend himself with is what she's saying," said the unidentified woman. Police aren't saying whether this was a gang-related shooting but the woman says she's now living in fear in her own home. "I'm worried that they might have seen me standing there at the window," she said.
