we're hearing from the family of a murdered roswell teen whose grave was vandalized and set on fire. the family says the act was meant to intimidate them as the murder trial for the suspect is about to begin joe bartels is live in roswell with the story...joe? zachary perez was stabbed 22 times back in february of 2010. the family says --just ahead of a trial that is about to begin-- the teen's grave was desecrated -- causing at least 2 thousand dollars in damage... the family of zachary perez was horrified to find his grave destroyed. pictures taken by the family show the items that burned. his mother cheryl ortega didn't want us to show her face. "we have to come out here and see zachary and for them to do that to him?" according to a police report, south park cemetery workers discovered the burned grave last saturday. police combed the area but were unable to collect any evidence that would lead to a suspect. perez's mother can't understand why someone would do this to her family. "when you have to see all of them hurting, you have to bury your son and no justice is done? we have to try and live our lives." the family has done what it can to make the grave site whole again-- but the fire has damaged the headstone. it will have to be replaced. the family says each day has been tough since zachary's murder and they just want to be able to move on. "and to see all my kids, they hurt everyday, and you have to be strong for them ... and now this?" the cemetery does not have security cameras so the family is asking for help to find whoever set the fire. james gomez was acquitted of perez's murder in april. the trial for jesus carranza who is also accused of murdering perez is set for next month
