sharon erickson is live at second and rio bravo with details in this morning's big story: antoinette... firefighters have been working to put out this fire for more than 36 hours now... and a "health advisory" is still in effect for the south valley this morning. fire crews spent the night spraying foam on this massive pile of metal at "albuquerque metal cycling" to keep the smoke and flames under control. firefighters also used cranes to move the scrap pile and get to the flames... and they say it's under control this morning ... but hotspots continue to flare up in the debris. right now, a health advisory is still in effect for the south valley... because the fire is burning toxic chemicals like paint, metal and plastic-- and as long as it's smoldering-- it's dgerous. the health advisory is in effect through this morning... so city officials say if you don't have to be outside-- 06:02 am investigators haven't determined what sparked the fire-- but lightning could be to blame. live at second and rio bravo. sharon erickson.
