after a few months off the books, today, thousands of students are heading back into the classroo it's the first day of school for a-p-s students. sharon erickson joins us live from rio grande high school with our top story. antoinette... 142 a-p-s schools minute thumbnail 06:01 am will open their doors to 90- thousand students ... and it's much different here at rio grande this year... last year, rio grande had major scheduling conflicts, but we're told that's not the case this year-- a-p-s says the scheduling issues have been cleared up. and many schools like del norte high school... are still dealing with construction... but it's not expected to impact students. a-p-d will be out using three high-tech speed vans with speed radar... and dozens of extra officers will be controlling traffic in school zones to make sure you don't speed. they say this year they won't be giving out warnings- just tickets- so make sure you slow down in school zones. a-p-s and a-p-d say theyre ready for the big first day of school. so leave yourself plenty of time to get to school, without speeding. live at rio rancho high school. sharon erickson. kob minute thumbnail 06:02 am eyewitness news 4.
