New Mexico State Police say one person died and at least two others were injured Friday when a gas tanker crashed into a building in downtown Gallup. The driver of the tanker and an employee of Sun Loans were both airlifted to Albuquerque with injuries. Hazmat teams are still on scene and diesel fuel is leaking, but the fuel is from the truck pulling the tanker, police say. The tanker was empty at the time of the crash. Officials say the tanker crashed into the Sun Loans building near an intersection in a busy part of Gallup, at 491 & Maloney, in the north part of the city. The immediate area has been evacuated.
