flooding on acoma pueblo after last night's heavy rain is forcing people out of their homes tonight. they've barely had enough time to recover or assess the damage -- and already ...they're bracing for round 2 tonight. eddie garcia spent the day there and joins us live with the latest. eddie the acoma pueblo seceratary tells me national weather service predictions show more rain could be heading their way tonight. right now, he says the community is in disaster mode. here's video of one of the worst hit homes. the family tells me up to a foot of water flooded their home in a period of about 30 minutes during last night's rain. here are some photos of i-40 under water. during the storm, emergency crews had to shutdown the interstate and a few other roads for hours. a pueblo spokesman tells me flood waters were up to six feet high in some areas...damaging multiple homes and washing out some roads. he says if more heavy rains come tonight -- the pueblo is prepared. we have school buses plus we have tribal administration vans. if we do find out that the rainfall will be heavy again this evening as it was last evening, we'll go ahead and notify all the residents, we'll probably go door to door. the sky city casino is taking in people displaced from their homes - and the elementary school will serve as the official emergency shelter. early estimatecount the damage at about a million dollars
