legislative session is now underway.. we're live in santa fe with the details on the hot topics expected to be covered. the special legislative session is getting underway in santa fe right now. governor susana martinez called for the session to cover issues such as redistricting and driver's licenses for illegal immigrants. gadi schwartz joins us live from the roundhouse with our top story already a lot on the plate for lawmakers- the special legislative session is kicking off right now- minute thumbnail 12:00 pm but activists have been here since early this morning- first immigrant right proponents filled hallways delivering petitions to lawmakers supporting drivers licenses for immigrants. then outside the roundhouse the tea party organized a rally - and spoke out against giving drivers licenses to immigrants- and a whole host of other issues. and that is just one of several debates that will go on during this session meant to deal with redistricting. today the governors proclimation includes a rather long list- that touches on social promotion- bills that failed during the last session. consolidating agencies. even the topic of banning fireworks seems to be on the table for this session. which could mean lawmakers are here for the long haul. in santa fe gs ewn4 you can count us for all your special session coverage. we'll bring you live coverage in our newscasts. and you can always find up- to-the minute information at kob-dot com.
