September 14, 2011
the mayor of ruidoso is responding to local outrage over ban of guns in village- owned buildings. gun owners showed up at a village council meeting to oppose the ban, signed by mayor ray alborn last month. alborn says it was in response to a council meeting where a man with a gun showed up to minute thumbnail 10:18 pm speak. even though nothing happened... the mayor says the council and other employees had no way to prevent a possible shooting. "a lot of people are saying your taking away my sond amendment right. i don't care how much you carry a gun, just don't do it in village buildings where we have defenseless people. this is to protect our obligation and duty to protect our employees." ruidoso's mayor says the ban affects only village-owned buildings.
